Angelica acutiloba
Angelica includes about 110 species, widely distributed in temperate regions of the northern hemisphere. A. acutiloba is native to Japan and was introduced to cultivation in the mountainous regions of western Java in the 1970s.

Also, it is used as an anemia medicine to relieve pain during labor. Two other species of Angelica with a long history of medicinal use have been successfully introduced to Vietnam. In Western Europe, various parts of A. archangelica L. have been used since ancient times as a plant and medicinal plant (for the treatment of dyspeptic syndromes and as an appetite stimulant).
Chemical research on A. acutiloba has revealed a wide range of compounds, including polysaccharides, lactones, and alkynes, some of which are medically active. The roots of A. acutiloba contain two anticholinergic compounds: ligustylid and butalidophthal. They also contain seven pain relievers: falcarinol, falcarindiol, and falcarinolone (polyacetylenes), and choline, scopoletin, umbelliferone, and vanillic acid. These biological activities are caused by various water-soluble fractions.
The hot water root extract also showed antipyretic, central nervous system depressant, heart depressive effects, as well as hypotensive, antispasmodern and radioprotective effects.
